Freedom Chatter

In 1996 I saw the name of a community cell phone shop in Mamelodi – FreedomChatter. The new South African constitution was being drafted at the time and the Freedom Charter, adopted at Kliptown in 1955, was one of its major precursors. The name of the phone shop struck me as witty in a typical South African way. I am now using it as a name for my blog, with an apology to its unknown inventor.
